What the land is like in asia

Posted By on April 30, 2010

Asia is so big that it has nearly every climate, and every kind of territory. The northern part reaches almost to the North Pole and is frozen nearly all year long. The southern part reaches almost to the equator-most of it is farther south than Florida-and so it is warm all year long. The highest mountains in the world, the Himalayas, cover much of the central part of Asia. One of the biggest deserts in the world, the Gobi Desert, is in the eastern part. Millions of square miles of Siberia, in the north, are tundra-flat, mossy plains that are frozen most of the year. And, of course, parts of Asia are jungles where vegetation is thick, and other parts are wonderful fertile farmlands where rice and other grain is grown.

The Caspian Sea, the biggest inland sea in the world, is in the western part of Asia. Three tremendous lakes, named Aral, Balkhash, and Baikal, are in the central part; each is bigger than any of the Great Lakes of North America. The mineral wealth of Asia is known to be very great, but it has not been developed enough for even a guess at its value. Iran is rich in oil. Siberia is .believed to have the greatest gold reserves in the world. Many precious stones and rare minerals that are scarce everywhere else are plentiful in Asia. Some geographers do not consider Asia and Europe to be separate continents as there is no logical physical separation between them.
