At Beverly Lane, we're firm believers that to get great tops for a woman’s fashion wardrobe, you don't need to spend a fortune. There are plenty of affordable alternatives to expensive tops that won't break the bank, and will allow you to stay firmly on-trend no matter the season.

If it's a woman's fashion tops you're looking for, something that combines comfort, style, and affordability, we're convinced that you can't go far past the humble T-shirt. Sounds crazy? Well read on to find out more, as here we present three great reasons that you should adopt a 'T' today!

#1 A woman’s fashion: The T-shirt is simple, but effective

What are T-shirt tops? Well it's actually easier to say what a T-shirt usually isn't: it isn't long sleeved; it doesn't have a pocket; it doesn't have a collar; it doesn't have any buttons... It doesn't have much! The T-shirt is about as simple an item of clothing as you can get. Normally coming in either a v- or (more commonly) a crew-neck, and made in a soft cotton or polyester/cotton fabric, the T-shirt is nevertheless an icon, despite its simplicity. One big reason for this is comfort – it's probably one of the most comfortable items of clothing around.

#2 A woman’s fashion: The T-shirt has a long and glorious history

So where did it all begin? Originally T-shirt tops were strictly an undershirt, not a layer that the wearer would show to the world. It was in the 1950s with the birth of youth culture that manufacturers started to put logos and slogans on T-shirts for decoration, and people, particularly young people, started to display them. This beginning is important, because T-shirts have always been, and continue to be, an important item of clothing for self-expression.

From the 1950s to today, people have used T-shirt tops to show the world what band they like, what team they support, and even which politician they voted for. You can think of a T-shirt as a blank canvas that thousands and thousands of people since the 1950s have put their stamp on. This is what makes retro T-shirts so fun: they're sort of like a time machine that takes you back to what was cool in an earlier age!

#3 A woman’s fashion: The T-shirt is versatile
